LONDON: Bahraini authorities intercepted and destroyed 147 ballistic missiles and 282 drones targeting the country since the start of US and Israeli military actions against Iran on Feb. 28.
The Bahrain Defence Force’s General Command said that air defense systems continue to counter “hostile terrorist Iranian aggression,” according to the Bahrain News Agency.
Bahrain, which is home to the US Naval Forces Central Command and the Fifth Fleet, was one of 10 countries targeted by Iran with missile and drone attacks.
The country did not participate in any US-led operations against Tehran. It said that Iran’s targeting of civilian areas and private property with ballistic missiles and drones constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and represents a direct threat to regional peace and security.
The General Command urged citizens to avoid affected areas and suspicious objects, refrain from filming military operations or debris, and consult only official media for updates, the BNA added.
