Organization of Islamic Cooperation to hold youth, sports conference in Baku

  • OIC member states to develop national policies and action plans that guarantee the protection of youth rights

JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold the fourth session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM) in Baku, Azerbaijan, on April 17-19, under the theme “Solidarity in Action for Youth Development.”
The ICYSM will review the draft OIC Youth Strategy for adoption. The draft emphasizes youth empowerment and investing in their future as key priorities.
It urges OIC member states to develop national policies and action plans that guarantee the protection of youth rights, improve their lives economically, socially and educationally.
The Youth Strategy also calls for the establishment of joint working mechanisms among member states for the exchange of experiences, mutual support and coordination of policies. The ICYSM will discuss the status of youth in member states, the activities of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation, and the activities of the Sports Federation of the Islamic Solidarity Games.
The conference will also discuss the international program of the Islamic Youth Capital and the implementation of resolutions related to youth and sports by member states in coordination with the OIC’s General Secretariat and its relevant institutions.

Crown prince, US president discuss regional escalation in phone call

  • Trump expressed Washington's condemnation of the blatant missile attacks against the Kingdom
  • The crown prince also discussed the ongoing military escalation in a separate call with the president of Syria

RIYADH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a telephone call on Saturday from US President Donald Trump, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Trump expressed Washington's condemnation of the blatant missile attacks against the Kingdom, which were intercepted by the Kingdom's air defenses. 

He affirmed US support for the Kingdom and its backing of all measures taken by the Kingdom to confront these Iranian violations that undermine the security and stability of the region, SPA added.

In a separate call, Crown Prince Mohammed and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa discussed the ongoing military escalation in the region.

Al-Sharaa affirmed his country’s support for and solidarity with the Kingdom, SPA said in another report. 

The Syrian president emphasized his country’s. rejection of any violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty or any threat to its security and stability.
