Saudi Arabia promotes values of moderation and tolerance in Jakarta

JAKARTA: The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance delivered the Friday sermon at Al-Azhar Mosque in Jakarta as part of a ministry program organized in cooperation with its Indonesian counterpart.

The initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to strengthening its religious and educational presence and fulfilling its mission of promoting the values of moderation and tolerance, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The sermon was attended by many worshippers eager to benefit from its spiritual and intellectual content.

The ministry also launched its 30th intensive training course in Jakarta.

The three-day program for 100 participants covers scholarly lessons and topics focused on instilling the values of moderation and centrism.

The Saudi government aims to boost its relationship with the Muslim world at all levels.

In October, the Kingdom launched a five-day scientific course in Ghana aimed at training and qualifying preachers and orators in the African country.

Saudi and New Zealand foreign ministers discussed Mideast situation

RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed the current situation in the Middle East with New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Peters expressed New Zealand’s condemnation of Iran’s indiscriminate attacks on the Kingdom and thanked Riyadh for its efforts to protect foreign nationals, including New Zealanders inside the Kingdom.
The Saudi military has shot down numerous missiles and drones fired by Tehran toward the Kingdom since the US and Israel began a large-scale military campaign against Iran on Feb. 28.
The Saudi Defense Ministry said early Tuesday that it had shot down a ballistic missile in the Eastern Province after knocking out several drones targeting the Shaybah oil field in the Empty quarter on Friday evening.
