Saudi Aviation Club includes more than 500 flight captains, says founder

RIYADH: The Saudi Aviation Club is now home for more than 500 flight captains, as revealed by the its founder and board chairman Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Speaking to Al-Eqtisadiah, he explained that Saudi Arabia will need at least 5,000 pilots by 2030 as the aviation sector continues to grow.

He pointed out that the Saudi Aviation Club is implementing Vision 2030 in its content and pathways, and expressed his happiness to be present at the General Aviation Airshow 2025 Sand & Fun 25 years after the club’s establishment.

The exhibition was held at Thumamah Airport north of the Saudi capital, Riyadh,  and saw participation from all government institutions that own aircraft, such as the Saudi Arabian National Guard, General Directorate of Public Security, and the Ministry of Health, in addition to the aerial displays presented by the Saudi Aviation Club.

Reflecting on the future needs of the sector, Prince Sultan said: “Saudi Arabia needs 5,000 by 2030, and I believe the need will be greater than that.”

Prince Sultan said the Kingdom is witnessing massive economic movement and that those working in the freelance field are adding value to the national economy. 

He added: “Whoever misses the opportunity to work in the aviation profession today in Saudi Arabia is missing out on a lot of opportunities.”
