RIYADH: The Eid breakfast tradition represents one of the most prominent social traditions cherished by communities across the Kingdom, where family members relatives, and friends gather on the morning of Eid around tables featuring traditional dishes associated with the occasion, in an atmosphere of joy, connection and the exchange of greetings.

Local tour guide Sami Al-Harthi said that the Eid breakfast is a tradition eagerly awaited by children in particular, as it carries an atmosphere of joy and playfulness, closely tied to the giving of Eidiya (Eid gift of money) and the celebration of Eid in warm family settings.

He added that Eid breakfasts vary from one region to another, with dishes reflecting local customs and culinary heritage.

Some areas prepare rice, meat, and traditional foods passed down through generations, while others highlight sweets, pastries, Saudi coffee, dates, honey, butter, areeka and fatta, as essential elements on Eid tables.

Moreover, Al-Harthi said that these social customs reflect the presence of Eid in the community’s cultural memory, reviving scenes of collective joy that bring people together on Eid morning.

He added that the Eid breakfast remains one of the most prominent expressions of the occasion, embodying its spirit and the sense of familiarity and happiness among members of society.
