DUBAI: Ahmed Aboul Gheit, secretary-general of the Arab League, has reiterated his condemnation of Iran’s ‘dangerous’ escalation of attacks against civilian targets and vital facilities in the Gulf region.
“This reckless and unjustified escalation represents a grave miscalculation that Iran must immediately reconsider,” Aboul Gheit posted on his social media account on Sunday.
Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Gulf countries US and Israeli forces started a massive air campaign against Iran on February 28.

“Iran is perpetrating aggression against peoples by targeting vital facilities and civilian targets, and that through its uncalculated escalation against populations, critical infrastructure, and civilian installations, it is placing the entire region on an extremely dangerous trajectory,” he added.
Foreign minister from Arab League members are expected to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the Iranian bombardment on several of the bloc’s members.
The meeting, which will be held via videoconference, was requested by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Jordan and Egypt, assistant secretary-general Hossam Zaki said.
