Rare 19th-century Qur’an on display in Makkah

MAKKAH: The Holy Qur’an Museum in the Hira Cultural District of Makkah is showcasing a rare copy of the Qur’an dating back to the 19th century.

The manuscript reflects the reverence Muslims have historically shown for the Holy Qur’an, as well as their meticulous attention to artistic and decorative excellence, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

The Qur’an is adorned with intricate decorations, gilding, and floral motifs throughout its opening, middle, and concluding sections, showcasing the remarkable artistry of Islamic craftsmanship.

The manuscript has been carefully restored in the past, safeguarding its intricate artistic features for future generations, the SPA added.

Housed within the King Abdulaziz Library, the manuscript is testament to the library’s dedication to preserving Islamic heritage.
