Riyadh celebrates Pakistani culture, heritage

RIYADH: The Ministry of Media launched its focus on the culture of Pakistan on Saturday as part of the Global Harmony 2 initiative, organized in collaboration with the General Entertainment Authority.

The initiative aims to engage residents and highlight Saudi Arabia’s embrace of cultural diversity through a range of activities and events, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The events run until Monday and feature cultural performances, interactive activities, and celebratory parades.

Heritage booths showcase Pakistani culture, including traditional clothing, handicrafts, and cookery.

The opening day included folk performances, cultural introductions, and an interactive presentation by students from a Pakistani school in the Kingdom.

The ministry has invited the Pakistani community and residents of all nationalities to the event, noting that it promotes cultural exchange and underscores the Kingdom’s role as a hub for global communities and cultural creativity.

Global Harmony 2 is highlighting 14 world cultures, represented by resident communities and featuring daily shows and activities that showcase residents’ lives and their integration with Saudi society.

Saudi and Qatari foreign ministers co-chair coordination council in Riyadh

LONDON: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, co-chaired the executive committee meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council in Riyadh.

The meeting on Thursday reviewed ties and ways to enhance them at both bilateral and multilateral levels. They also discussed strengthening cooperation through several initiatives that could elevate relations to broader prospects, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Both sides commended the cooperation among the committees under the coordination council.

The executive committee secretariat provided an overview of the council’s activities and its committees over the past period, along with the latest updates and preparatory work for the eighth meeting, the SPA added.

At the end of the meeting, the ministers signed the minutes of the council’s executive committee.
