RIYADH, 15 September — Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh Al-Sheikh condemned all forms of extremism and terrorism and expressed hope that the Islamic Cultural Forum of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques would contribute positively to correcting misconceptions about Islam.

In a press statement yesterday, Al-Sheikh categorically rejected Western media reports linking Islamic relief organizations and societies in the Kingdom with terrorism.

Meanwhile, the first session of the sixth Islamic Cultural Forum of the Custodian the Two Holy Mosques got under way in Johannesburg. Al-Sheikh attended the session.

Dr. Nasser Al-Aqal, of the Riyadh-based Imam Mohammed ibn Saud Islamic University, underscored the importance of adhering to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah (Prophet’s teachings).

Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Louh, dean of the College of Islamic Studies and director of Dakar-based Dar-El-Istikama Center for Islamic Education, shed light on the goals of Islamic call.

He suggested that councils of Islamic affairs be established in all Arab and Muslim countries and stressed the need to train Islamic callers.

He also proposed establishment of Islamic satellite stations. (SPA)
