ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) said on Friday it rescued six Indian fishermen who were drowning close to the international maritime boundary line between both countries.
According to the PMSA, its ship was patrolling in the eastern maritime region on Thursday when it found six Indian fishermen in the water.
“A security operation was launched immediately and all crew members of the Indian fishing boat were safely recovered,” the PMSA said.
“Later, the Nakwa reported that their boat sank as a result of an accident and they drifted towards Pakistani waters,” it added.

The PMSA said its ship provided medical aid to the rescued fishermen as well as food. The PMSA crew helped stabilize their physical condition, it added.
“Later, the rescued fishermen were handed over to an Indian coast guard ship operating in the area. The humanitarian gesture of the PMSA ship was appreciated by the rescued fishermen as well as the Indian Coast Guard,” the PMSA added.
Pakistani and Indian maritime agencies frequently arrest fisherfolk on charges of illegally entering each other’s territorial waters for fishing.
