The Eid marks the end of the Ramadan fasting and people want to enjoy themselves by visiting picnic points and beaches, and participate in amusement programs with their families.
“Preparations include more than 1,200 street lights with green bulbs on main streets such as Madinah Road, Tahlia Street, Royal Saloon Bridge, Salam Street, Prince Sultan Street and King Road,” a source at the municipality told Arab News.
More than 2,300 palm trees on main roads will glimmer with green lights starting from the 27th day of Ramadan (Aug. 27) until Sept. 3 on Madinah Road, Tahlia Street, Al-Hamra Corniche, Andalus Street and Balad. Abruq Al-Amanah Theater will present many dramas and amusement events, especially for women and children, the source said.
Fireworks will be another major attraction during the Eid holidays.
The Eid holidays will also coincide with the opening of 20 parks out of the 50 being built at a cost of SR32 million in the city. Jeddah Mayor Hani Abu Ras will open them on Sunday.
The parks projects, the works of which were launched three years ago, comprise jogging courses, courts for football, volleyball, basketball and various children’s games. They also have green surfaces, trees, umbrellas, seats and lighting poles, the source said.
The events of Jeddah Summer Festival will also coincide with the Eid celebrations.
