JAZAN: A Saudi father in his mid-sixties brought a sharp end to his son’s happiness when he took as wife the sister of the girl who his son coveted to marry, Okaz newspaper reported yesterday. The father did the unthinkable when he went to the bride’s home with his son to ask for the girl’s hand in marriage. The girl’s family refused, saying they would only consider marrying off the girl once her elder sister is married. This made the young man angry and, incensed, he left the home swearing never to return. The father took advantage of his son’s absence and asked for the elder daughter’s hand in marriage. He then later told his son to look elsewhere for a bride, something that increased his fury. As a result, he complained to his mother who then decided not to allow the father to return home. All attempts to bring peace have failed and the father has been left with no choice but to establish a second home with his new bride.
