RIYADH: Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a call on Sunday from Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East.

Prince Faisal affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to its role in maintaining security and stability, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The foreign ministers discussed diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

The Saudi foreign minister also received two calls from his counterparts in Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and in Jordan, Ayman Safadi. He discussed separately the importance of supporting efforts and unifying positions aimed at reducing escalation in the region.

The ministers highlighted the need to confront actions that could undermine security, ensure the restoration of freedom of maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, and mitigate the crisis's negative repercussions.
