TAIZ: Thousands of Yemenis gathered in the streets of Taiz on Thursday in a massive rally to affirm their support for the Presidential Leadership Council and to demand an end to the nearly decade-long siege imposed on the city by the Houthi militia.
The demonstration, taken through the streets of the besieged city, drew wide participation from political factions, civil society organizations, and local dignitaries.
Demonstrators prominently displayed Yemeni flags and chanted slogans supporting the efforts of Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, the council’s chairman, to restore state institutions.
The rally comes amid escalating economic and security tensions across the country.

Participants emphasized that Taiz “will remain an impenetrable fortress against the Imamite (Iranian) project,” calling on national forces to unite behind the political leadership and the armed forces.
Participants highlighted several key issues during the demonstration, including full backing for the government’s decision to resume oil exports to fund basic services and pay civil service salaries.
They also condemned the ongoing Iranian interference in Yemen through the arming and backing of the Houthis, deeming it a direct threat to international navigation and regional peace, and commended the financial and relief support provided by Saudi Arabia to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and develop infrastructure in the governorate.
Taiz, home to millions of residents, remains one of the regions hardest hit by the Yemeni conflict, suffering under a severe Houthi siege that has imposed strict restrictions on the movement of civilians and goods since 2015.
