ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia on Monday after a helicopter operated by petroleum giant Aramco crashed a day earlier, killing all 14 people on board.
The helicopter crashed in Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura city on Sunday morning, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. It added that all 14 people on board were Saudi nationals, who died in the tragic crash.
The SPA said authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
“Deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter crash in Ras Tanura that claimed the precious lives of 14 Saudi nationals,” Sharif wrote on social media platform X. “Pakistan stands in full solidarity with our Saudi brothers and sisters in this hour of grief.”
Sharif extended his condolences to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, families of the victims and the people of Saudi Arabia.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday extended condolences to Saudi Arabia for the crash.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragic accident and their grieving families,” Dar wrote on X.
