Where We Are Going Today: ‘Rusticana’ restaurant in Abha

If you are in Abha and looking to treat yourself to a hearty meal packed with slow-smoked protein, then head over to Rusticana in Al-Muftaha district.

The menu is extensive and diverse, ranging from pizzas, burgers and pasta dishes featuring smoked beef at reasonable prices to premium cuts of meat served with sides at a higher price point.

I went around noon for brunch, and my first impression of the restaurant was not really impressive. I do not know whether it was empty at the time we went or it was just the look and ambiance of the place during the day.

Nevertheless, my partner and I decided to give it a try as it had a solid 4.2-star Google review.

We ordered smoky pink pasta with beef, burger beef casserole, and cold drinks. The order took some time to arrive, but when it finally did, it was piping hot with steam rising from the dishes and the rich smoky aroma of the beef working up our appetites.

Even though we were not really hungry, we ended up emptying our plates.

The pasta was perfectly cooked and just saucy enough, with the charred shreds of smoked beef elevating the flavor profile of the dish. The beef casserole came with a side of pita bread, but it was just really good on its own, making it feel like a healthy no-carb meal.

Our total bill was SR132 ($35.15), a reasonable amount for the portion and taste.

The interior was modest yet comfortable, the servers were cordial, and the service was smooth. It definitely reckons occasional visits if you live in Abha or are just visiting the town like us.
