Head over to Sellfish to indulge in this quintessential British comfort food.
The restaurant opened recently and has been packed ever since. We visited twice and managed to get a table on our second visit at around 11 p.m.
The menu is small and crisp with fish and chips, of course, salads, fries, chicken options, and a variety of drinks and desserts.
My husband and I ordered the fish and chips that came with a side of fries, mashed peas and tartar sauce, a fish burger with fries, and cold drinks.
The fish in both dishes were hot, crispy, juicy, flaky, and quite appetizing — but the fries were cold.
Given the packed restaurant, the service was quick as we were served within about 12 minutes of placing our order; and the staff members were cordial. But maybe I should have requested hot fries.
Our bill for two people was SR180 ($48).
It is a nice, casual dining space with modest interiors and seating. Ideal to visit at any time of the day for a quick, no-fuss fulfilling meal.
Without being selfish, Sellfish is worth a visit with or without companions, just for its fish.
