Israeli forces repeat incursions in southern Syria, arrest residents

  • Israeli forces raided villages of Ruwayhina and Kudna in the countryside of Quneitra

LONDON: A Syrian man was arrested by Israeli forces after they entered the village of Ruwayhina in the central countryside of Quneitra.

He was taken to a nearby military position late on Sunday when the force, consisting of two Humvee vehicles, moved into the Ruwayhina, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.

Israeli forces also raided the village of Kudna in southern Quneitra on Saturday. They detained two residents and took them to an undisclosed location.

The Syrian government has repeatedly condemned Israeli incursions into its southern territory, including raids, arrests and land razing, saying that they violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Syria said that the presence of Israeli forces on its territory was “illegitimate” and that all Israeli measures in the region are “null and void and have no legal effect” under international law, SANA added.
