RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman each sent a message of sympathy on Thursday to Colombia’s president, Gustavo Petro, following a military aircraft crash in which dozens of people died.
They extended their deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the president, the families of the victims, and all the people of Colombia, and wished the injured a speedy recovery, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
At least 69 people died and 57 were injured when the C-130 Hercules plane crashed on Monday near the Amazonian town of Puerto Leguizamo in Colombia’s southern region bordering Peru. Several local residents who attempted to help survivors were wounded by munitions exploding in the wreckage.
