While driving along Prince Saud Al-Faisal Street, one of Jeddah’s most vibrant thoroughfares, I found myself glancing at a familiar corner. It once housed Atayeb, a beloved cake establishment that had been a go-to destination for celebration cakes since 2016 before it quietly disappeared.
The space remained vacant until recently, when it was reimagined as Pavlovve by Amani — a boutique dessert concept dedicated to pavlova, the delicate meringue-based dessert famously claimed by both Australia and New Zealand.
Often considered a refined dessert, pavlova is not commonly found on local menus, making this specialty shop a welcome addition.
The menu offers three flavors — caramel, mango, and mixed berries — in small, medium, and large sizes. I opted for the small mango pavlova, which proved generous enough for two.
It was, without exaggeration, one of the most delightful desserts I have tried recently. The fresh mango slices were vibrant and sweet, while the crisp meringue shell contrasted beautifully with the soft interior. A rich mango custard at the center elevated the dish, adding depth and balance.
Beyond pavlovas, the shop also offers assorted flavored meringues, ideal for serving guests or for gifting. Presentation is clearly a priority here, with each item elegantly assembled.
The ambiance leans toward a cozy European aesthetic. A statement chandelier anchors the space, complemented by soft, dim lighting, off-white tones, and a long shared sofa that invites guests to linger.
I chose to enjoy my order at home; interestingly, the dessert held up remarkably well. Even the following day, the remaining portion retained its freshness, with the meringue still crisp.
Larger sizes are available for gatherings, making it a thoughtful option for those looking to impress guests.
