Dubai Basketball responds with win against Bayern after tough road week

  • The 87-74 win in Munich came only two days after a defeat to Partizan in Belgrade

DUBAI: Dubai Basketball wrapped up one of the most demanding stretches of the season with a statement 87-74 road victory over Bayern Munich in Round 32 of the EuroLeague, just two days after facing Partizan in Belgrade.

After opening the EuroLeague week with an 88-74 defeat to Partizan, Dubai showed resilience and character to respond immediately in Munich, producing one of their most composed away performances of the season. The win improves Dubai’s record to 17-15 and keeps the team firmly in the race for a Top 10 finish heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

After the game, head coach Jurica Golemac praised the mentality of the team after an intense back-to-back road schedule.

“Congratulations to our players. It was a very intense and energetic match, as always against EuroLeague teams on the road, especially against Bayern, who play very physical basketball. We kept up with the physicality and stayed focused for 40 minutes, and that’s why we won the game. And despite everything, we still have fans who continue to support us wherever we go.”

Dubai’s EuroLeague week began in Belgrade with a strong first-half performance against Partizan. The team controlled long periods of the opening two quarters and built a double-digit lead through efficient execution and balanced scoring.

However, momentum shifted after halftime as Partizan responded with a decisive third-quarter run, eventually securing an 88-74 win.

The response against Bayern Munich was crucial for the team’s efforts to keep the Top 10 dream alive. After a tight opening quarter, Dubai took full control in the second period, turning the game around with a strong offensive stretch and disciplined defensive play. The team continued to build on that momentum in the third quarter, extending the lead into double digits and managing the game confidently down the stretch.

Dubai’s ability to stay focused for the full 40 minutes proved decisive, as the team handled Bayern’s physical style and consistently answered every attempt at a comeback.

The victory in Munich gives Dubai valuable momentum as the race for the EuroLeague playoff positions enters its final phase.

Dubai’s next EuroLeague matchup will be against one of Europe’s most decorated clubs, Panathinaikos Aktor Athens, in Round 33. The game will be hosted at Zetra Arena in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
