  • Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns Iranian attacks on Turkiye and Azerbaijan amid escalation conflict between Iran and the US and Israel

RIYADH: The Saudi minister of foreign affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, discussed developments in the Middle East with his Polish counterpart, Radoslaw Sikorski, on Thursday.

During their telephone conversation they reviewed events amid the US-Israeli conflict with Iran that began on Saturday, the repercussions on regional and international security and stability, and efforts to address them, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Prince Faisal had a similar, separate discussion during a call with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira.

Also on Thursday, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Iranian attacks on Turkiye and Azerbaijan amid the escalating conflict in the region.

Azerbaijan accused Iran of launching a drone attack targeting the Nakhchivan region that struck an airport and injured several civilians. And Turkish authorities said that NATO air defenses intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile on Wednesday as it approached the country’s airspace.

Saudi and New Zealand foreign ministers discussed Mideast situation

RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed the current situation in the Middle East with New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Peters expressed New Zealand’s condemnation of Iran’s indiscriminate attacks on the Kingdom and thanked Riyadh for its efforts to protect foreign nationals, including New Zealanders inside the Kingdom.
The Saudi military has shot down numerous missiles and drones fired by Tehran toward the Kingdom since the US and Israel began a large-scale military campaign against Iran on Feb. 28.
The Saudi Defense Ministry said early Tuesday that it had shot down a ballistic missile in the Eastern Province after knocking out several drones targeting the Shaybah oil field in the Empty quarter on Friday evening.
