Riyadh: The Libraries Commission recently received UN Development Programme Resident Representative for Saudi Arabia Nahid Hussein during her visit to the Cultural House in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
Hussein reviewed the Cultural House’s experience as a modern cultural and knowledge model reflecting the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance access to knowledge, develop community participation and advance the role of public libraries.
The visit included an introductory tour of the Cultural House facilities, showcasing key cultural and knowledge services and programs, along with interactive spaces that combine reading, learning, and cultural activities to support cultural engagement and enhance quality of life.
The UNDP resident representative praised the Libraries Commission’s role in developing the public library ecosystem and described the Cultural House as an integrated model that reflects investment in people and knowledge, and supports the Sustainable Development Goals by empowering individuals and expanding learning opportunities.
The visit comes as part of efforts to boost cooperation and exchange expertise with international organizations and review leading national experiences in the cultural and knowledge fields, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s objective of building a prosperous, knowledge-based society.
The Cultural House is a modern, multipurpose library designed to serve diverse community needs. Located within the Riyadh Oases, it features a library, dedicated spaces for adults and children, shared workspaces, a technology lab, a cafe, and open courtyards for hosting artistic and cultural events.
