KSrelief projects enhance education, health in Yemen

RIYADH: Saudi aid agency KSrelief distributed educational and technical supplies to associations for persons with disabilities and adult-literacy centers in Yemen’s Lahij province.

The initiative coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Dec. 3 and is part of a project supporting the development of education in Yemen, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.

The assistance included school desks, computers and accessories, educational and recreational materials, and safety equipment, and was provided to care centers and specialized schools across several cities.

The project aims to improve learning environments in disability-care centers and literacy schools by supplying essential equipment in targeted provinces.

It is part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts, through KSrelief, to support vulnerable people and enhance education for persons with disabilities.

KSrelief also held a workshop in Taiz governorate to train laboratory technicians in collecting and analyzing water and food samples as part of its cholera response project, implemented in cooperation with the World Health Organization and Yemen’s Ministry of Public Health and Population.

The training aimed to strengthen laboratory capacity and improve epidemic surveillance, the SPA reported.

Dr. Ilan Abdul Haq, deputy governor of Taiz for health affairs, emphasized the importance of such workshops in enhancing technical skills and preventing water- and food-borne diseases.

The initiative is part of KSrelief’s broader efforts to support Yemen’s health sector and advance technical capabilities in medical laboratories.
