Yemeni minister visits Riyadh for culture week

RIYADH: Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani attended Yemen Culture Week in Riyadh, part of the Global Harmony 2 initiative.

Organized by the Ministry of Media and the General Entertainment Authority under the Quality of Life Program, the event supports Vision 2030 goals.

Al-Eryani said hosting such events reflects the brotherhood between the two nations and praised the Kingdom’s humanitarian initiatives, which have brought joy to over 400,000 Yemeni visitors recently.

The Yemeni minister added that the high turnout underscores the initiative’s impact and significance, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

Al-Eryani was accompanied by a delegation of international officials, including Japan’s Ambassador to Yemen Yoichi Nakashima, US Embassy Charge d’Affaires to Yemen Jonathan Peccia, Chinese Embassy Charge d’Affaires to Yemen Zhao Cheng, and Turkiye’s Deputy Ambassador to Yemen Jihad Kocsuk, along with other officials and media representatives.

Delegates praised the diversity on display, including traditional shows, costumes, handicrafts, and activities reflecting Yemen’s rich heritage.

The event’s pavilions showcased Yemeni life, allowing visitors to explore villages, cities, regional lifestyles, and traditional attire representing the country’s culture and environment.

Visitors also experienced Yemeni traditions through musical presentations, entertainment, and displays by around 80 performers.

Pavilions featured silverware, bamboo products, live clothing demonstrations, and artifacts highlighting local craftsmanship.

Several Yemeni residents expressed gratitude for the event, noting it provides an important platform connecting Yemenis in the Kingdom and worldwide.

The event will run until Nov. 28, offering folk displays, interactive sessions, and performances that showcase the richness of Yemeni culture.
