JEDDAH, 26 March 2004 — Nadim Memorial, GCI, Nadir Toor, Babar Toor and Saudia City won against their rivals in the Division II Friday League matches organized by Jeddah Cricket League (JCL).

Saudia City Beat Publicis Graphics: Saudia City totaled 179 runs in 18 overs, with Qasim and Nadeem putting up 100 runs before they departed. Qasim scored 41 while Nadeem blasted 72 with nine fours. The fall of both the openers triggered a slide, but with Extras 23 and Khalid’s unbeaten 17 Saudia City managed to hit 179 runs. Roomi took 3 for 26 and Hafiz took 2 for 30 for Publicis Graphics, who could only muster 141 for 3. Arif Hashmi cracked four sixes in his masterly 75 and Khusroo contributed 39 as they fell short by 38 runs.

Babar Toor Better Hero Rangers: Hero Rangers scored 113 in 16.3 overs with Abid, who scored 50, waging a lone battle. The other topscorer was Mr. Extras 25, as Babar Toor’s Shahzad took 3 for 20 while Zaheer, Javed and Aizaz Toor took 2 wickets each for 24, 21 and 13 runs respectively. Babar Toor achieved the target in 15.5 overs for a 9 wickets win. Ghayyoor blasted an unbeaten 57 while Irfan remained unbeaten on 46 as they made 117 for the loss of one wicket.

Nader Toor Surpasses SGI: Nader Toor piled up 206 for one wicket, as Naveed smashed 85 and along with Rezwan, who was unbeaten on 82, shared a 175 runs partnership. Nader remained unbeaten on 10. In reply SGI started well but could muster only l90, falling 16 runs short. Abdul Rub 61, Majid 56, Azeem 33 and Qamar 28 kept SGI in the hunt. Nader Toor took 2 wickets.

GCI Down Earnest Young: Irfan smashed an unbeaten 100 (ten fours, one six) for GCI in a majestic display of strokeplay. GCI, struggling at 16 for 2 at one stage, were boosted by Irfan and Shahid, who shared a 101 runs stand. Shahid scored 32 while Asif scored a quickfire 20 as GCI tallied 198 for 5 wickets. Sarwar took 2 wickets for 29 while Murli, Sheshadhari and Raman took one wicket each for Earnest Young. In reply, Earnest were bundled out for 102 with Sarwar scoring an unbeaten 35, Sheshadari 15. Qadir took 6 for 10 runs.

Otis Lose to Nadeem Memorial: Otis, on batting first, lost their star batsman Sadathullah for 8 runs and then wickets fell at regular intervals. Akhtar scored 27 and Mr. Extras 20 and they were restricted to 132 runs on a fast Zuhier A Zahran ground. Ehsan, Nusrath, Naveed and Tariq took 2 wickets each for 10, 28, 21, and 9 respectively. Nadeem Memorial then scored 135 runs in 16.4 overs with the help of Saleem 24, Khadim Butt 41 not out and Faisal 39 to register victory by 6 wickets.
