Saudi Arabia records highest number of daily COVID-19 infections since start of pandemic

  • 5,362 new cases recorded in the previous 24 hours
  • The total number of recorded cases reaches 593,545

DUBAI: Saudi Arabia recorded the highest number of daily COVID-19 infections since the beginning of the pandemic on Wednesday.

There were 5,362 new cases recorded from the previous 24 hours, pushing the total number of recorded cases to 593,545 so far.

Wednesday also saw a further two deaths, bringing the number of fatalities in the Kingdom to 8,899.

The total number of recoveries in Saudi Arabia increased to 552, 057.

Over 52.9 million doses of coronavirus vaccine have been administered in the Kingdom to date.

Prince Faisal meets Syrian FM on sidelines of Munich conference

  • Prince Faisal welcomed comprehensive agreement in Syria and reiterated Kingdom’s support for ongoing reconciliation efforts

MUNICH: Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani and his delegation on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, with talks focusing on bilateral relations and regional developments.

According to a foreign ministry statement, the meeting reviewed ties between the two countries, as well as relations between the two peoples. 

Prince Faisal welcomed the comprehensive agreement in Syria, which includes the integration of institutions of the Autonomous Administration into Syrian state institutions.

The Saudi foreign minister also reiterated the Kingdom’s support for efforts by the Syrian government to preserve the country’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Discussions further covered the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to enhance security, stability, and development across the Middle East region.
