KARACHI: Pakistan’s blind cricket team defeated arch rival India in the final of a tri-nation T-20 tournament played in Dhaka and won the series, Pakistan Blind Cricket Council’s Director information Imran Sheikh told Arab News on Sunday.
Pakistan played first and set a target of 175 runs in 15 overs, which its bowlers easily defended. Pakistan’s skipper scored 69 runs off 50 balls with the help of 7 fours and remained the top scorer.
In its chase, Indian could score 112 runs at the loss of seven wickets. Indian batsman Sunil Ramesh made 39 runs off 28 and remained the top scorer for his side.
Pakistani blower Sajid Nawaz grabbed two wickets.
Sheikh said the T-20 tournament was originally scheduled to be held between April 2 to 8 but was restricted to two days after the Bangladeshi government announced lockdowns due to a rise in COVID-19 cases. The three leagues matches were limited to 10 overs whereas the final was restricted to 15 instead of 20 overs, he added.
Earlier, the host Bangladesh team lost both matches against India and Pakistan, allowing the top south Asian teams to contest for the trophy in the final.
