JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has recorded a four-month high in daily confirmed coronavirus cases, with 404 new infections reported on Monday.
The last time it reported a number in the 400s was Nov. 6.
Monday’s figures bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Saudi Arabia to 385,424.
There were 184 new infections in the Riyadh region, the Eastern Province had 73 cases and Makkah had 66. Najran recorded the least number of cases with just two.
Monday’s report has pushed the number of active cases to 4,012, of which 595 are in critical care. In the past 24 hours 11 patients have been admitted to intensive care units.

There were also 387 new recoveries reported on Monday, raising the total number of recoveries to 374,799, and four further coronavirus-related deaths. The country’s COVID-19 death toll is 6,613.

The Kingdom has so far administered over 3.2 million coronavirus vaccine doses, a daily rate of 132,785.
More than a million of the Kingdom’s residents have received at least one dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab, according to Assistant Deputy Minister for Preventive Medicine Dr. Abdullah Asiri.
There have been more than 14.6 million PCR tests conducted in the country so far, with 44,161 carried out in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance announced that 336 mosques had been temporarily shut down in the past 43 days, with four closed in the past day after four COVID-19 infections were confirmed among worshippers.
