RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held separate phone calls with his Kuwaiti and Turkish counterparts on Saturday to discuss diplomatic efforts to ease tensions and safeguard maritime security, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
During a call with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prince Faisal discussed the latest developments in the region and underscored the importance of continued consultation and coordination to support diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions, protecting freedom of navigation, and preserving regional security and stability.
In a separate conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the two ministers exchanged views on the regional situation and stressed the need to strengthen diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis and prevent further escalation, SPA said.
The calls come as Saudi Arabia has intensified diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, with the Kingdom repeatedly emphasizing de-escalation and the protection of key maritime routes, including the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz.
On Thursday, the Kingdom joined 13 other countries in establishing a maritime defense coalition aimed at protecting shipping in Bab Al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
