ISLAMABAD: The creator of a hugely popular meme that went viral in Pakistan and India this month, Dananeer Mobeen, has joined Peshawar Zalmi as an ambassador for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) cricket team, the internet sensation announced on her social media pages on Sunday.
Peshawar Zalmi already boasts a star-studded roster including Mahira Khan, Esra Bilgic, Hania Aamir and Ali Rehman.
"I am SO excited to announce, that I am now an official member of the Zalmi family!" the 19-year-old influencer wrote on her Instagram, as she posed next to Zalmi owner Javed Afridi.
Over the last two weeks, Mobeen's 100,000 followers on Instagram shot up to 1 million, after a remix of her meme by Indian producer Yashraj Mukhate took social media by storm with over 25 million YouTube views, and was quoted by the likes of Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli.
Last weekend, the Pakistan Cricket Board shared a video of the national team doing their version of the "pawri" clip after winning a series against South Africa.
