RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Tuesday affirmed its support for the Yemeni people and vowed to continue humanitarian aid to Yemen through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
The weekly Cabinet session, with King Salman in the chair, highlighted the Kingdom’s stance at a high-level meeting recently organized by the European Commissioner in cooperation with the Swedish government in Brussels to review the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
Riyadh denounced the violations committed by the Iran-backed Houthi militias, saying such provocative actions impede relief efforts and may lead to the suspension of humanitarian support to Yemen.
Following the session, Media Minister Turki Al-Shabanah told the Saudi Press Agency that the ministers also highlighted the Kingdom’s stance at last week’s Munich Security Conference.

The Saudi delegation had presented its position on its strategic ties with the US. It also tackled Iran, holding it responsible for instability in the region and accusing it of committing reckless actions against the regional and global economy. It also addressed the conflict in Yemen, underscoring its constant support for a political solution. The Saudi delegation in Munich also highlighted the Kingdom’s ambitious agenda during its presidency of the G20.
Shabanah said the ministers reiterated the Kingdom’s stance at the 58th Session of the Commission for Social Development at the UN where it declared that it will partner with the UN and the international community to achieve its 2030 sustainable development goals.
The Cabinet was also briefed on the preparations for Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) special meeting on the Middle East in April.
The ministers also affirmed that the royal approval to form the first University Affairs Council in the Kingdom is an extension of the leadership’s support for education in the Kingdom.
