ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan met Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki in Islamabad on Thursday.
During the meeting, they focused on the bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed ways to broaden and deepen it.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have always enjoyed cordial relations with each other. However, the ties between the two countries have strengthened further after Imran Khan assumed the top political office of his country after last year’s general elections.
Khan chose the Kingdom as his first official destination abroad. He developed a strong bond with the crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, who made a high-profile visit to Islamabad in February this year.
Saudi Arabia not only provided a relief package to help Pakistan’s ailing economy and enable its government to tackle the balance-of-payments crisis but also agreed to make long term investments in that country.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia also agreed to enhance cultural exchanges during the crown prince’s visit, hoping that it would bring the people of the two countries closer together. Among others, the initiative has benefited Pakistani filmmakers who have captivated the Saudi market with their productions.
Thursday’s meeting between the prime minister’s adviser and the Saudi envoy specifically focused on enhancing cooperation in the field of information, according to a twitter post of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
