Lucy Hale heats things up in a Lebanese minidress

DUBAI: US actress Lucy Hale walked the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of her latest film in a striking minidress by Lebanese designer Georges Chakra late last week.
The actress, who shot to fame for playing the role of Aria Montgomery in the TV series “Pretty Little Liars,” turned heads at the premiere in an orange ensemble on Thursday.
The fitted, sheer minidress featured opaque piping across the bodice and an orange-and-black feathered trim on the skirt.
The fashion house approved of the look and took to Instagram to applaud Hale’s choice of attire.
“@lucyhale looked fiery at the premiere of ‘The Unicorn,’ wearing an orange velvet cocktail dress with a color block feathered hem,” the designer’s team posted on Instagram.
The dress hails from George Chakra’s 2017 fall/winter couture collection and seems to have sparked a heated debate among Hale and her style team.
“The debate of ‘was this dress red or orange?’ continues. Let’s take a poll. I say orange,” Hale captioned a snap of the dress on her Instagram account.

She chose to wear the eye-catching outfit to the premiere of “The Unicorn,” in which she stars alongside Nicholas Rutherford and Lauren Lapkus.
Directed by Robert Schwartzman, the film follows an engaged woman who learns that her parents have a less-than-conventional secret to their lasting marriage. The plot unwinds as the woman and her fiancé set out on a wild night that exposes problems in their relationship.
The film is set to be released in US theaters on Feb. 1.
Chakra is no stranger to Hollywood and has been lauded by the who’s who of the entertainment industry.
In late November, British-American actress Lily Collins, who starred in 2017’s “To the Bone,” chose a stunning gown by Chakra, with a sparkling purple skirt and off-the-shoulder black bodice for the annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles.
The designer also shut down the red carpet at October’s American Music Awards, where singing superstar Jennifer Lopez wore a hot pink gown by the fashion heavyweight. The plunging neckline and barely-there back turned heads, as did the flowing fabric and high split in the skirt.
Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra, who made headlines around the world with her marriage to US pop star Nick Jonas in December, also turned to Chakra while on her international pre-wedding bachelorette tour.
While on holiday in Amsterdam with her friends and family members, Chopra took to Instagram to show off a feathered minidress by Chakra, straight from his spring 2018 haute couture collection.
The delicate dress was encrusted with crystals and sequins and featured a feathered cape, which she paired with white Christian Louboutin heels and a white faux fur coat.

Teyana Taylor flaunts Ashi Studio gown

DUBAI: US singer-songwriter and actress Teyana Taylor attended the 41st Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Sunday in a gown by Saudi Arabia couturier Mohammed Ashi.

The gown is from the designer’s Paris-based label Ashi Studio, specifically its Spring/Summer 2026 couture collection.

The all-white look featured a corseted bodice, frayed fabric and slick material offering an experimental wet look to the gown.

Taylor has been on something of a fashion run lately, while promoting Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.”

Her performance has been widely praised, earning her the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, as well as nominations from SAG-AFTRA, BAFTA and the Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, Paramount confirmed last week that “Get Lite,” Taylor’s feature directorial debut, will arrive in cinemas next spring. The film is scheduled for wide theatrical release on April 9, 2027.

Set in New York, the story centers on a gifted yet protected dance student whose world expands when he unexpectedly discovers community, connection and purpose within the city’s subway system.

US actor Storm Reid is set to lead the cast and also serve as a producer on the project, alongside US writer Kenya Barris and actor and filmmaker Anni Weisband. Taylor also registers as an executive producer.

The film “Get Lite” marks Taylor’s first feature as a director. While she is best known for her work as a performer, Taylor has previously directed several music videos, including her own projects “Gonna Love Me” and “Rose in Harlem.”

Those works offered early insight into her visual sensibility and interest in storytelling driven by music and movement, paving the way for her transition into long-form narrative filmmaking.

Beyond film, Taylor has also reached a milestone in music, securing her first Grammy nomination in 2026 for her latest album “Escape Room.”

Ashi’s creations have been worn by celebrities and stars including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, Kylie Minogue, Penelope Cruz, Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Ashi became the first couturier from the Gulf region to join the Federation de la Haute Couture in Paris as a guest member in 2023. He was also the first Gulf designer included in the BoF 500 list, the Business of Fashion’s index of people shaping the fashion industry in 2023.
