Arab Parliament declares its solidarity with Saudi Arabia, calls Canadian statements a ‘diplomatic failure’

DUBAI: The Arab Parliament is standing by Saudi Arabia in its stance against the Canadian Foreign Minister and the Canadian Embassy in the Kingdom, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mishaal bin Fahmi Al-Salami, said Monday.

Al-Salami said Canada’s “negative and irresponsible” statements were a “blatant interference in the internal affairs of Saudi Arabia, and contradict the principles of judicial independence and application of criminal justice.”

He said provocative statements like these were a “great diplomatic failure” and contrary to the principle of the respect for the sovereignty of states.

Saudi FM meets with UN humanitarian chief

RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher in Davos on Friday.

During the meeting which took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, areas of joint cooperation and ways to enhance it were discussed, Saudi Press Agency reported.
