ISLAMABAD: Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif will visit Islamabad on February 7 and discuss the release of Pakistani prisoners in the kingdom among other important affairs, the Pakistani interior ministry said on Tuesday.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have deep-rooted fraternal and strategic ties. Around 2.5 million Pakistani expats reside in the kingdom, who are one of the biggest sources of foreign remittances to the South Asian nation.
"The Saudi interior minister, during his one-day visit, will meet important government and security officials, including President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan," the Pakistani interior ministry said in a statement.
"[Both sides] will discuss important affairs, including the regional situation and the release of Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabia."
On his day-long visit, it said, Prince Abdulaziz would also visit the interior ministry and meet his Pakistani counterpart.
Last week, Saudi Arabia ratified agreements that help both countries streamline the transfer of prisoners and measures to counter human and drug trafficking. The treaties were signed during Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to the kingdom in May last year.
After a meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki last week, Rashid had said that Prince Abdulaziz’s visit would further broaden the Pak-Saudi ties.
