ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Saturday that social media platform TikTok will be its official sponsor for the upcoming Pakistan-Australia ODI series and a one-off T20I match.

The Chinese video platform is one of the most popular apps in the world, with over a billion users worldwide. The app is also wildly popular in Pakistan, where many people have gained social media stardom with their TikTok content.

“TikTok will be the presenting sponsor for the three-match ODI series, which will commence at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from March 29, and associate sponsor for the T20I game,” the PCB said in a press release.

Australia will lock horns with Pakistan in Lahore on March 29, in the first ODI of the series. The other two ODIs will be played on March 31 and April 2. The one-off T20 will also be played at the same venue between the two teams on April 5.

The visitors will be heading into the ODI series on a high note after beating Pakistan in the final Test match at Lahore and winning the three-match Test series 1-0.

“Being part of this historic Pakistan-Australia Test series first and now the ODIs and T20I has made TikTok the ultimate platform for cricket fandom in Pakistan,” Paul Katrib, TikTok's branding head for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa and Pakistan, said in a statement.

Earlier, TikTok had also won the title sponsorship for the Test series. It was also announced as the entertainment partner of Pakistan Super League 7 and 8 and the title sponsor of the PSL anthem for the latest season.

The PCB is on TikTok as well, regularly featuring highlights of the current and previous matches, fans’ reactions, favorite moments and exciting challenges.
