ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's naval chief Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, who is currently visiting Amman, held meetings with Jordan's top military officials to discuss defense cooperation between the two countries, Radio Pakistan reported on Friday.
Pakistan and Jordan enjoy close bilateral relations and have tried to further consolidate security cooperation in recent years.
President Arif Alvi conferred his country's prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) award on Jordan's military chief in January, saying it was "in recognition of his illustrious services for promoting defense cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries."
"Naval Chief Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi held meetings with the Jordanian Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the Director of Air Operations and the Commander of Navy in Amman separately and discussed defense cooperation and matters of mutual interests," reported Pakistan's state-run radio station.
"The host officials commended Pakistan Navy's efforts for maritime security," it added.
Pakistan's Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza also visited Jordan in June where he held similar meetings and discussed ways of increasing the scope of military engagements between the two sides.
General Raza also received the highest Jordanian military award during his official visit to the Arab state.
