ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Thursday that Pakistan would focus on trade and investment in its economic ties with Saudi Arabia.
The minister met Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, who visited him at the foreign office.
After the meeting, Bhutto-Zardari said they had discussed a “wide range of issues of mutual interest.”
“Agreed to enhance bilateral economic cooperation with particular focus on trade & investment,” he tweeted.
Pakistan has been seeking to explore non-conventional areas of bilateral cooperation with Saudi Arabia, with a particular focus on promoting economic, trade and investment ties, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who visited the Kingdom in April, told Arab News at the time.
“Our two countries have had this special bond for seven decades now,” he said. “It is now our earnest desire to transform this relationship into a deep, diverse and mutually beneficial strategic partnership.”
Pakistan enjoys deep-rooted ties with Saudi Arabia, which is home to nearly 2.5 million Pakistani expats.
