ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share common global interests, said President Dr. Arif Alvi on Tuesday, adding it was important for the two countries to further consolidate their strategic relationship.
Alvi issued the statement during a meeting with Saudi ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki in which he pointed out that Pakistan attributed great significance to its ties with the kingdom.
The two countries have always enjoyed wide-ranging relations and tried to assist each other in difficult times.
“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agree on a number of regional and global issues,” said the president. “The strategic and broad-based partnership between them needs to be further enhanced in various fields.”
Alvi said the ties between the two sides were grounded in their common religion, values and culture.
He urged businesspeople in the two countries to continue their engagement to further strengthen bilateral trade relations.
“More than two million Pakistanis reside in Saudi Arabia where they have been playing a significant role in the development of the two countries,” the president added.
He maintained the people of Pakistan had great emotional attachment with the kingdom and prayed for the good health and longevity of its top leaders.
