ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported three deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the lowest in a single day this year, the health ministry data showed on Monday.

The South Asian country has reported 1,282,195 total infections and 28,663 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began in February 2020.

Of the 37,148 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 322 came positive, according to Pakistan’s pandemic response body, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).

The number of active cases has also declined to 22,562, while no critical case was reported in the last 24 hours.

Pakistan has witnessed a significant decline in coronavirus cases in recent months. Officials say the COVID-19 curve has flattened in Pakistan due to an aggressive vaccination drive carried out by the government, with over 120 million people having received at least one dose of a vaccine.

Amid improving situation last week, the United States’ Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a ‘Level One’ COVID-19 travel notice for American citizens traveling to Pakistan, which is the lowest possible level of health risk attributed by the organization.

Pakistan was earlier placed at ‘Level Two’ moderate risk by the US body.

In September, the United Kingdom took Pakistan off its high-risk ‘red list’ for travel.
