ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday telephoned UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and extended Eid Al-Adha greetings to him, a statement from the Pakistan PM's office said.
Besides his warm greetings on the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha, the prime minister also extended his best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the brotherly people of the UAE, according to PM Sharif's office.
The UAE president reciprocated the greetings from the prime minister and extended his best wishes to the people of Pakistan on the occasion.
"Reaffirming the fraternal relations between Pakistan and the UAE, the two leaders reiterated their mutual commitment to further expand and diversify special bilateral relations," the statement read.
PM Sharif also extended a cordial invitation to the UAE president to visit Pakistan, which His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed accepted, according to the statement.
Pakistan and the UAE enjoy close fraternal ties for five decades that are rooted firmly in common belief and shared values and culture. The UAE is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and a major source of investment and remittances.
Over 1.6 million Pakistanis live and work in the UAE and remit $4 billion annually to the South Asian country.
