ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority has allowed international flights to operate at full capacity from next Wednesday, reported local media on Saturday.

Last month, the National Command and Operation Center, the country’s top pandemic body, removed COVID-19 restrictions from cities with 60 percent vaccination rate.

With a decline in the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan, it also decided to allow inbound air travel to the country at full capacity from November 10.

“Government of Pakistan is pleased to allow 100 percent international passenger flight operations to and from all airports with effect from November 10, 2021 at 0001 PST,” Dawn quoted an aviation authority’s notification.

It also reported the Rapid Antigen Testing had been abolished for all inbound passengers, except for those traveling from high-risk countries like Russia, Iran and Afghanistan and category ‘C’ states including Iraq, Costa Rica and Thailand.

International travel across the world declined after the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic as countries went into lockdown to prevent the virus spread.

As governments begin to vaccinate their citizens, however, domestic and international travel has been revived, making countries make suitable adjustments to their policies on the basis of data-driven analyzes.
