ISLAMABAD: Inspired by a fifer from spinner Nathan Lyon, Australia registered a historic series win over Pakistan on Friday, winning the third Test match in Lahore by 115 runs.

Set a 351-run target to win, Pakistan began the final day with the prospects of chasing the total with nine wickets in hand.

But Lyon made use of a turning wicket to dismiss Imam-ul-Haq (70), Azhar Ali (17) and Babar Azam (55).

Australian skipper Pat Cummins dismissed Fawad Alam and Mohammad Rizwan, quickly turning the match in Australia’s favour.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hassan Ali were dismissed by Lyon before Cummins sent Naseem Shah to pavilion, shattering his stumps to ensure Australia win the series.

Australia were touring Pakistan for the first time since 1998, having previously refused to visit over security concerns.
