RIYADH: Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki has said that twins Khalid and Saleh Al-Arini, accused of killing their mother, and wounding their father and brother, have no criminal record, and that police never received any information about their involvement in terrorism or their intention to go to areas of conflict.
Al-Turki was responding to an audio recording shared on social media websites and WhatsApp, claiming a member of the Al-Arini family stating that the family filed a report about the twins’ intention to go to conflict areas in Syria.
The Interior Ministry has allocated a number of communication channels for reporting or counseling in case people suspect any person, and where they can also report terrorists or wanted people, report acts harmful to the security of the state and society, or serious security issues related to terrorism, Al-Turki told Al-Riyadh newspaper. They can be reported by contacting the law enforcement authorities by calling 990, sending an e-mail to [email protected] or sending a fax to 4869645-011.
The Interior Ministry highlighted the importance of communicating with security authorities through calling 990 in case they suspect any person and want security forces to reach that person before he is able to commit a crime.
It stressed that security work in the Kingdom is an integrated and connected entity, and if a person commits a crime and runs away to another city, it does not mean that he has given police the slip. "Security forces are able, with God’s help, to carry out their duties, maintain security and stability, and arrest all involved in any crime, no matter what, Al-Turki said.
The Kingdom has made provision for financial rewards for anyone who reports on any criminal or mental perversity through Royal Decree 8/46142, dated 09/26/1424H. This provides for granting financial rewards of SR1 million to whoever provides information on anyone wanted by authorities. The award increases to SR5 million to those who report on more than one, and to SR7 million in case of an impending terrorist attack.
