The first full triathlon of the season attracted a full field of 118 competitors that navigated on 450m swim, 12.4km bike and a 3km run in a lung-busting race.
For many it was their their first completed triathlon which included a flat but technical bike course. A total of 75 players completed the full event which shows a huge increase from recent years.
With last year’s club champion now living in Dubai, and a number of the club elite athletes away, the door was open wide for a new victor.
Simon Chorlton exited the water after a fine swim and remained in the lead at the end in an excellent performance. Other category winners were: Brett Girven first male open, Anne Morrissey (female Master), Frank Guerin (male Master), Paul McParland (male Senior), Maria Araujo (female Veteran), Katy Taylor (female Open), Harriett Townhill (female junior) and Glenys Henry (female Senior). Individual discipline victories went to Anne Morrissey (swim), Jan Block (bike) and Patick Wilcox (run).
Riyadh Triathletes would like to thank the management of Ishbilia for hosting the event. Also a huge thanks to all those who helped make this full triathlon a success. RT also would like to thank the main sponsors Clyde & Co, 2XU and Carrefour @5 Le Mall for their ongoing support this season.
