Aleks Nikaj is the fourth fatality from the Jan. 21 clashes between opposition protesters with security forces during anti-government protests in Tirana. Another 150 were injured in the violence.
The 36-year-old Nikaj, shot in the head, died Saturday after two weeks in a coma, Socialist Party spokeswoman Armela Ymeraj says. Nikaj had been transferred a week ago to a military hospital in Ankara, Turkey.
The opposition Socialists have been demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sali Berisha over allegations of corruption and new elections. They plan to hold weekly rallies across the country every Friday.
