The artists are of different nationalities and are of different musical backgrounds. “This is the perfect example of the fact that we can stand together when people are in need,” said Jasmin Halskov, lead singer and the song’s lyricist.
Halskov decided to write the song as a small contribution to help victims of the earthquake. She later shared her idea with her friends and they all contributed. The group has recorded the single at their own expense and without the support of any record label company etc. The song was released on Jan. 26.
“We are currently looking for sponsors to help perform a concert accompanied with an orchestra. The concert’s profits will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, which is offering aid and medical assistance to the victims of Haiti,” said Jalal Jaffer, a member of the group.
Their track is entitled “Sammen Kan Vi Gøre En Forskel” in Danish (We could make a difference).
The lyrics are in Danish and speaks of encouraging people to stand together and reach out to people who need help.
The song also says that people cannot control natural causes such as tsunamis and earthquakes, but can help with small contributions. The record is a mixture of R&B and classical music. The song was made in two countries: The vocal tracking was done in Denmark and the music was mixed in Bahrain. The song raises money when people purchase it or download it online.
