Review: Wildflower offers healthy dining in Jeddah

  • The interior has a London-inspired feel, with floor-to-ceiling windows, abundant natural light, greenery and a blend of modern furniture, patterned cushions and playful decorative pieces

JEDDAH: Located in Jeddah’s Al-Shatea district, Wildflower offers a health-conscious dining concept centered on generous sharing plates, contemporary presentation and flavors inspired by Saudi, Arab and Mediterranean cuisine.

The interior has a contemporary, London-inspired feel, with floor-to-ceiling windows, abundant natural light, greenery and a blend of modern furniture, patterned cushions and playful decorative pieces.

City views make the space feel bright and open, while the atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it equally well suited for brunch, coffee with friends or a family meal.

Our meal began with whipped feta served with honey and sourdough bread. We also tried two varieties of hummus, with the wagyu hummus standing out as richer and worth ordering on every visit.

Among the salads, the quinoa and watermelon stood out for its combination, while the Greek zucchini salad was light, refreshing and satisfying, with enough texture and flavor to make it another dish worth ordering again.

The chicken limone pasta featured well-cooked chicken with a subtle charcoal-grilled flavor and refreshing lemon zest.

The true star of the meal was the sea bass sayadiyah bowl. The fish was lightly chargrilled and served separately from the rice, allowing both elements to retain their individual textures and flavors.

The sayadiyah rice was moist, deeply seasoned and topped with carrots, pine nuts, roasted almonds and raisins, creating a flavorful kushna. A special accompanying sauce brought the fish and rice together beautifully.

The lamb shank kabsa also delivered a cozy Saudi flavor. The meat was tender, while the juicy, well-seasoned rice captured the comforting character of a homemade kabsa. The generous portion could comfortably serve three eaters.

Portion sizes are among Wildflower’s strongest points. Many dishes are large enough for three or four diners, making the restaurant particularly suitable for families and groups.

The drinks menu includes fresh juices, ginger-lemongrass-based beverages and coffee, while desserts include pancakes, San Sebastian cheesecake and French toast. Service was fast and attentive throughout the meal.

Overall, with fair prices, attentive service and consistently well-executed dishes, Wildflower offers a dining experience that feels polished without losing its relaxed charm.
