RIYADH: Saudi Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel recently met Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent during his official visit to the Central Asian country.
AlJalajel conveyed the greetings of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the president, along with their wishes for his continued health and success, and for further progress and prosperity for Uzbekistan and its people.
The meeting reviewed the longstanding ties between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan, and highlighted the rapid growth of bilateral cooperation.
The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the health and investment sectors, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.
Priority areas included digital transformation, healthcare system development and modernization, pharmaceutical regulation, training and capacity building for healthcare professionals, and plans to establish a multidisciplinary hospital in Uzbekistan.
The meeting also reviewed the memorandum of understanding signed by the two countries in the health sector during Mirziyoyev’s visit to Saudi Arabia in August 2022, as well as the joint initiatives launched under it.
The two sides also discussed several agreements signed during the current visit and highlighted their role in advancing health and investment cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
During his visit, the Saudi health minister also met Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov to discuss opportunities to enhance health and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting covered cooperation in several health areas, including sustainable healthcare financing, the Health in All Policies approach, and strengthening prevention and population health to build more efficient and sustainable health systems.
AlJalajel also met Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, in the presence of Health Minister Eldor Adilov, to discuss strengthening health cooperation and advancing the partnership between the two countries.
The two sides discussed the strong ties between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan, and explored opportunities to expand cooperation in priority areas, including healthcare transformation, the medical and pharmaceutical industries, workforce development and health sector investment.
AlJalajel also took part in a healthcare roundtable, alongside Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration for Healthcare Reform in Uzbekistan Aliyeva Tamila Anvarovna and other key officials. The meeting explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation, investment and the exchange of expertise in the health sector.
The visit reflects the two countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation in the health and investment sectors, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and strengthening sustainable international partnerships.
